The Snailkin are Cultivation's slowest race, on purpose. Registered through the same public API every built-in race uses, unlocked at Body Refinement right alongside Human, they walk at half a mortal's pace and take roughly ten times as long to see a breakthrough ritual through. In trade, they run tankier and more Yin than anyone else on the roster — +35% health, -20% damage dealt, and a +25% Yin bias on every bit of Qi they absorb.
The whole point of the shell is what happens when it stops moving. Hold perfectly still — no walking, no swimming, not even drifting — for a couple of seconds, and a Snailkin's Qi gain from every source doubles for as long as the pose holds. A one-shot sound and chat line mark the instant it engages, so you always know the bonus is live rather than guessing.
The slow ritual is not as brutal as the headline number suggests: the same config value that stretches the breakthrough ten times longer also stretches the gap between tribulation lightning strikes by the same amount, so the total number of bolts you eat over the whole ritual stays roughly what any other race would take — you are just spending far longer inside it. Every number here — the multiplier, the stillness threshold, both percentages, even the idle bonus itself — lives in one admin section, editable live with no restart, plus a master switch that turns off just the idle bonus and its cue while leaving the race and its other stats fully intact.
At a glance
- Unlocked at Body Refinement, same as Human — fixed +35% health, -20% damage dealt, +25% Yin alignment bias
- -50% move speed and a breakthrough ritual about ten times longer by default, both percentages tunable
- Hold perfectly still for 2 seconds (tunable 0-60s) and Qi gain from every source doubles (tunable 1x-10x) for as long as you don't move
- The same config value stretches the ritual and the gap between tribulation strikes together, so the total bolt count stays roughly what any other race eats
- A one-shot sound and chat line mark the instant the bonus engages, on a 30-second cooldown so alternating still/moving can't spam it
- A master switch and one live-editable admin section for every number above — no restart needed
- Free. Sign in and download it.
How you become one
- Pick Snailkin from the race menu once you reach Body Refinement — the same gate Human uses, no roll and no quest, just a choice like any other race.
- Fixed and not configurable: +35% health, -20% damage dealt, +25% Yin alignment bias on every bit of Qi absorbed. Tanky and patient, never aggressive, by design.
- -50% move speed by default (config-tunable, clamped to a maximum of -90%), composing with the skill tree's own Move Speed bonus rather than overwriting it.
- If a published compatibility check ever flags this build against your Cultivation version, there is a withdrawal path — but no way to un-register the race itself. Every Snailkin already chosen keeps the race; only its numbers go temporarily inert, falling back to Human's, until the versions are put right.
The idle Qi bonus
The reason to pick this race at all.
- Stop moving completely — walking, swimming, even drifting all reset the clock — for Stillness-Required-Seconds (2 seconds by default, tunable 0-60s), and every source of Qi gain doubles (Idle-Qi-Multiplier, default 2.0x, tunable 1.0x-10.0x) for as long as the pose holds.
- Tracked by a lightweight component ticked four times a second; move more than a fraction of a block and the stillness clock resets to zero.
- A one-shot sound and chat message mark the moment the bonus engages, on a 30-second cooldown per still-standing streak, so alternating still and moving can't spam the cue.
- There is no flat Qi-gain-rate bonus stacked on top — the idle multiplier is this race's entire Qi edge, so meditating (already a kind of stillness) never double-dips.
The catch
Speed is the actual cost, and it does not go away during the ritual.
- The breakthrough ritual takes roughly ten times as long as any other race's by default (Breakthrough-Duration-Percent-Reduction, -900% by default, tunable across a [-9900, 90] band).
- The same value also stretches the interval between heaven's tribulation lightning strikes, so the total number of bolts across the whole ritual stays about what any other race eats — you are paying in time, not in extra lightning.
- The Codex entry states this trade-off before you commit, not just once in the race card's own flavor text.
For server owners
- One admin section (general): the master switch, the idle multiplier, the stillness threshold, and both movement/ritual percentages — all editable live, no restart, shown on both the admin Config tab and Cultivation's own settings menu.
- Snail-Realm-Enabled turns off just the idle bonus and its cue; the race itself and every other stat stay fully selectable.
- The usual addon-family scaffolding: update/build/compat checks against xianxia.dev, so a mismatch with your Cultivation version is caught automatically.
What it needs
- Cultivation 0.10.3 or newer — the manifest will stop an install on anything older.
- Hytale Server API 0.6.8.
- Server-side only. Your players install nothing.
Version history
- The Snailkin: a whole alternate race unlocked at Body Refinement, same gate as Human. Fixed +35% health, -20% damage dealt, +25% Yin alignment bias.
- -50% move speed and a breakthrough ritual about ten times longer by default, both tunable — the same config value stretches the tribulation strike interval too, so the total bolt count stays roughly constant across the longer ritual.
- Idle Qi bonus: holding perfectly still for 2 seconds (tunable) doubles Qi gain from every source (tunable 1x-10x) for as long as you don't move, tracked by a lightweight component ticked four times a second.
- A one-shot sound and chat cue the instant the bonus engages, on a 30-second cooldown per still-standing streak.
- A Snail-Realm-Enabled master switch that turns off just the idle bonus and its cue, leaving the race and its other stats untouched.
- One admin config section exposing every tunable above, live without a restart, shown on both the admin Config tab and Cultivation's own settings menu.
- A Codex entry laying out the tenfold ritual length before you commit.
- Stillness tracking resyncs immediately on a direct race change, a Cultivation profile switch, or an expiring temp/test profile — not just at your next join.
- Built against Hytale Server API 0.6.8 and Cultivation 0.10.3+. All five of Cultivation's locales: en-US, pt-BR, ru-RU, uk-UA, zh-CN.
