The Path/Classes·道

Cultivation: Classes

Beyond realm and Dao, a cultivator may walk one of six classes (职业) — a second path of growth that is entirely their own, spent on a tree of perks earned through breakthroughs and advancement. Nothing about it is required, and a server that does not install it plays exactly the same game.

Classes is a paid add-on for Cultivation, available with a Cultivation subscription or bought outright; Cultivation itself is free and always will be.

Choosing and changing

Your first class is free. Once you reach Class-Unlock-Realm (Qi Condensation by default), pick one from the new Classes tab on the Identity page of the Cultivation menu, or with /cultivationclass choose <class>. Choosing grants your first perk points.

Changing it later is not free. /cultivationclass sever <class> begins a severing rite:

An admin using the admin bypass skips the realm gate, the cost, the cooldown, and the point cost of perks.

Perk points

Points arrive from three places, all configurable: 2 when you choose a class, 2 for every realm breakthrough, and 0 for every stage advancement (off by default). Demotion takes the same amount back; if you have already spent it, the shortfall is held as debt against future grants rather than taken from a balance you do not have. /cultivationclass shows your points available and owed.

Each class has four branches of three nodes. A node costs 1, 2 and 3 points in order, and each needs the one before it, so a full branch is 6 points and a full class is 24. The deepest node of one branch also teaches the class's signature technique.

If your live Dao element matches the class's own, you get a small extra on the class's central channel: +4 percentage points. A fitting Dao helps; it never decides the build.

The six classes

Effects below are per node, cumulative down a branch. "Cuts" means a reduction: -4% cooldown means 4% shorter. Where a branch has two channels, the first node gives the first, the second node the second, and the third node both.

Charge time, ritual difficulty and damage taken are floored so no stack of perks can reduce them to nothing: damage taken and charge time never fall below 10% of normal, ritual difficulty never below 25%.

Signature techniques

Each is learned permanently by unlocking its class's deepest signature node, and can be performed only while that class is the one you currently wear. All six unlock at Foundation Establishment, and are performed like any other art. The defaults below are the rules as registered; a server owner can override any of them with a matching entry in Cultivation's Arts/TechniqueConfig.json.

Mastery titles and the Codex

Unlock every node of a class and you earn its mastery title, equipped from the Titles page: Sword Sovereign, Elixir Grandmaster, Array Grandmaster, Talisman Sage, Adamantine Titan, or Beast Sovereign.

The Codex gets an overview article and one for each class. The Classes tab and perk tree follow whichever palette you have chosen, including the ones Jade Slip, Rubber Duck and SoulRings ship.

Staff get two rows on the Players tab of /cultivation admin: one to set or clear a player's class, and one to grant or revoke perk points directly.

For server owners

Two sections in the in-game admin config editor (Classes and, on the admin page only, Class Change) cover every key, live, with no restart. The file is mods/Siren_CultivationClasses/Config.json.

Getting it

Classes is available in the Pavilion — included with a Cultivation subscription, or bought once. It is server-side only: drop the jar beside Cultivation and restart, and your players install nothing.

The current build is v0.2.0. It requires Cultivation 0.11.0 or newer and a Hytale Update 7 server (Server API 0.7.0-pre.5.1), and will not load on an Update 6 server; the previous version is the one to keep there. Release 0.2.0 had no gameplay changes. Like Cultivation's other add-ons it checks in with xianxia.dev for releases, official-build digests and the published compatibility list; if a pairing is later published as incompatible it stands itself down without deleting anyone's class.
