Heavenly Oath
A Heavenly Oath (天道誓言) is a binding pact two cultivators consensually swear to each other. Neither side is forced into it, and neither side can walk away from it for free once it is sworn - break the terms, and the punishment is automatic. Change your minds together instead, and there is no penalty at all.
The four kinds
| Type | What it binds |
|---|---|
| Non-Aggression | Neither party may attack the other. |
| Sect Loyalty | A cultivator's loyalty is bound to a sect's cause. |
| Wagered Duel | A duel staked on banked Qi - breaking it forfeits the stake outright, on top of the standard breach penalty. |
| Master-Teach | A pact between a master and a prospective disciple. |
Sworn by consent, ended by consent or by consequence - there is no third way out.
Swearing one
/cultivation oath offer <player> <type> [wager]
/cultivation oath accept
/cultivation oath decline
| Value | |
|---|---|
| Offer expiry | 120 seconds |
| Offer/dissolve spam cooldown | 3 seconds, per offerer |
| Wager cap | none by default - Oath-Max-Wager ships 0, meaning unlimited |
The wager only matters for a Wagered Duel - the other three kinds carry no stake.
Breaking one
An oath is not a suggestion. Break its terms and the heavens collect automatically, the same way they collect karma at a tribulation - there is no grace period and no warning shot.
| Consequence | Value |
|---|---|
| Qi lost | 15% of your current Qi |
| Karma charged | +25 |
| Dao-Heart Flaw | 30 minutes, at 50% severity |
| Wagered Duel only | the full staked Qi also transfers to the victim, on top of the above |
The karma is not incidental - +25 feeds directly into how hard your next tribulation hits, exactly like a farmed kill does. Swearing an oath you don't intend to keep is a debt on two ledgers at once.
The Dao-Heart Flaw
道心破损 is what a broken oath leaves behind, in the same family as Qi Deviation - both are the mod's way of saying a costly mistake doesn't end the moment it happens.
While a Dao-Heart Flaw is active, breakthroughs are blocked entirely - not slowed, not penalized, refused. It also makes your next Heart-Devil Trial 40% harsher, scaled by the Flaw's own severity. An oath-breaker who immediately tries to push their realm is going to be told no, and an oath-breaker who is also deep in Yin or Yang lean is walking into a worse trial than usual.
Unlike Qi Deviation, there is no separate cleansing item for a Dao-Heart Flaw in this build - no pill shortcuts it away. The one cure is company: meditating with the party you swore the oath to, within 8 blocks, cures it three times as fast. Check where you stand with:

Dissolving together
/cultivation oath dissolve
Either side can request a dissolve, but it only ends the oath cleanly when both parties agree to it - the same offer-and-answer shape swearing one uses in the first place. Agreed dissolution costs nothing: no Qi, no karma, no Flaw. It is the intended way out of an oath that no longer serves either side.
