Weapon Spirit
A Weapon Spirit (器灵) is what a Life-Bound Treasure can grow into, given enough refinement and enough blood spilled with it. It doesn't stand alone - it sits directly on top of two other systems, and a weapon that hasn't earned its way into both of them will never so much as stir.
What it takes to stir
Before a spirit can wake at all, the weapon must clear two gates at once:
| Gate | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Refinement | Weapon Refinement tier V or higher |
| Kills | 30 landed kills - only kills by the weapon's own Life-Bound owner count |
Both are properties of the weapon, not the wielder in the abstract - a Life-Bound Treasure carries its refinement tier and its owner's kill count with it. A freshly bound blade with no tempering and no history has nothing to wake, however skilled the cultivator holding it is.
A weapon that has never been bound can't refine an ownership-bound kill count in the first place, and a weapon that has never been tempered to tier V can't clear the other half. Read those two pages first if either term is unfamiliar - Weapon Spirit assumes both.
Waking it
Once both gates are clear, the spirit can begin to stir. From there it climbs its own small ladder, entirely separate from your Qi realm, your Life-Bound level and your refinement tier.
/cultivation spirit
/cultivation spirit nurture <qi>
The bare command reports the spirit's status - whether one has stirred yet, its level, and how close it is to the next one. nurture is how you feed it.
| Value | |
|---|---|
| Max level | 5 |
| Base XP requirement | 300 |
| Growth per level | ×1.6 |
Nurturing
/cultivation spirit nurture <qi>
A Weapon Spirit grows on banked Qi, spent directly out of your own pool and converted to spirit XP:
| Value | |
|---|---|
| Conversion rate | 0.5 XP per Qi spent |
| Cap per use | 400 Qi |
| Cooldown between feedings | 60 seconds |
Feeding it is a deliberate cost, not a passive drip - every point of spirit XP is Qi you chose not to spend on your own cultivation instead.
Flavor and voice lines
A Weapon Spirit speaks, at four points:
- First stirring - the moment it wakes for the first time.
- Each level gained - a line for every step up the five-level ladder.
- Maturity - reaching the level cap.
- Near-death - triggers below 20% of the wielder's health, rate-limited to once every 45 seconds so a drawn-out fight doesn't spam the same warning.
What maturity grants
A Weapon Spirit at max level lends its wielder one bonded technique - an art the weapon itself now grants while it is held, in the same spirit certain Life-Bound natures lend an art at their own unlock level. A mature Weapon Spirit is a second source of borrowed power sitting on the same treasure.
Devotion and Temperament
v0.10.1 Levels 2 through 4 used to be silent rungs on the way to maturity. They finally do something:
| Level | Perk | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Whetted | Lends a little extra bite to every blow |
| 3 | Watchful | Shaves a little off what lands on you in return |
| 4 | Swift | Gathers a charged art a little faster |
Each perk is live from the level it unlocks - no separate switch to flip, no command to activate it.
Devotion
How much any of that is actually worth is gated by a new bond, Devotion. A freshly-awoken spirit's perks start faint and grow toward their full strength as you earn its trust:
- Carrying it through a breakthrough.
- Winning a duel it stood beside you for.
- Surviving a near-death moment together.
- Landing the killing blow on something that deserved to fall.
- Simply feeding it Qi after it has nothing left to grow into.
A spirit left sitting in a chest for too long quietly forgets some of what it was owed - Devotion is a relationship, not a one-way ratchet. /cultivation spirit reports your bonded spirit's current Devotion alongside its level and Temperament.
Temperament
Two players' spirits no longer sound alike. Every spirit settles into one of three personalities the first time it truly speaks, and carries it for good:
Haughty
Proud, and slow to admit any attachment - warms up the least, and never quite says so directly.
Zealous
Eager for the fight, blunt about wanting more of it.
Devoted
Quietly loyal from its very first line.
Temperament colors every line the spirit has ever spoken, plus several new triggers: a first kill for the day, witnessing your own breakthrough, crossing a Devotion threshold, and noticing how long it went untouched.
Naming
/cultivation spirit name <name>
An awoken spirit can be named at last. Its name replaces the generic voice tag from then on in every line it speaks, and shows right in the weapon's own tooltip.
The Misc page carries a card for your bonded spirit - name, Temperament, level, a Devotion meter, the next perk still to unlock, its bonded art, and the last few things it has said. The in-game Codex spells out Temperament, Devotion and the level 2-4 perks in full.
