Divination
v0.10.2 Divination (占卜) is a small paid oracle you consult from chat. /divine gives three readings, each over a system that already exists, and each one costs a few Spirit Stones: the flavor and risk of your own next tribulation, what the heavens will bring next, and what path another cultivator walks.
It matters because most of this mod's big moments arrive without warning. Divination turns a few of them into something you can plan around: whether to rush a rank-up today, whether to be standing near a vein when a Spirit Tide rolls in, whether the stranger across from you is worth fighting.
Nothing a reading does changes the world. It only reports what is already decided, and you are charged only when it has a real answer for you.
The three readings
| Reading | Command | Cost (default) | Cooldown (default) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your next tribulation | /divine tribulation | 5 Spirit Stones | 5 minutes, shared with heavens |
| The next celestial event | /divine heavens | 10 Spirit Stones | 5 minutes, shared with tribulation |
| A rival's realm and Dao | /divine rival {name} | 15 Spirit Stones | 15 minutes, its own clock |
Replies come back in chat with the key words picked out in gold, and a paid reading adds a short chime.
Your tribulation
For example: "Your tribulation will strike as Fire lightning, tempered to the Blue band - your Qi Deviation risk stands at 12%."
The reading tells you three things about your own next breakthrough:
- The flavor. Which of the elemental bolts the heavens will send, set by the Dao element you walk. Water is Ice, Wood is the Trial of Voices, Earth, Fire, Metal, Wind, Poison and Void each have their own, the shadow-ring Ice element is Frost, and everyone else (including a cultivator with no element, or a server with variants off) gets the classic Lightning. See Tribulation Variants.
- The band. White for Body Refinement through Foundation Establishment, Blue for Golden Core Formation and Nascent Soul, Gold for Soul Formation and above. Your effective realm decides it. The Crimson sky is for Ascension only, so you will never be told it here.
- The risk. The chance, right now, that rushing your next rank-up on Qi you did not meditate for ends in Qi Deviation. It is the same number the real roll would use, so what you are told is what you would face. It reads 0% when Qi Deviation or its rush-risk layer is off on this server.
The heavens
This one reads the celestial calendar. The Celestial Events scheduler chooses the next event ahead of time and holds it as a committed pick rather than rolling when the moment comes, so a reading is a real forecast, not a guess at odds. What you hear depends on the sky:
| The sky | You are told | Charged |
|---|---|---|
| An event is due | In N minute(s), the heavens will bring Spirit Tide. (rounded down to whole minutes) | Yes |
| An event is already running | Which one, and how many minutes remain, and that no further portent can be read until it settles | No |
| The pick has not settled yet, just after an event ends | To ask again shortly | No |
| The celestial calendar is switched off, or nothing is enabled | That the server keeps no calendar, or that every portent has been stilled | No |
The event can be Spirit Tide, Meteor Shower, Blood Moon, Starfall Convergence, Heavenly Schism (while Path War is on), or anything an add-on has registered. A Beast Tide never appears in a reading, because it is not picked by this scheduler.
If that event carries a themed Event World Boss, the reading may add a second clause, ...and word is Tide Leviathan may descend with it. The wording is always "may", never "will": the roll is a promise of a chance, and slot contention, a failed spawn or another mod's veto can still stop the boss. The clause is left out when the boss decision for that event has not been made yet, or when there is no boss. Leaving it out never refuses or re-charges the reading. In-game boss names are Tide Leviathan, Meteorfall Colossus, Bloodmoon Howler and Starfall Devourer.
A prophecy can still be overturned. An admin who forces an event, re-arms the schedule, or turns off the event it names discards it. A Calamity Beast omen or a Beast Tide warning, by contrast, is never allowed to run over a prophecy you could have read; those wait.
A rival
For example: "Your rival walks the Fire path, having reached the Golden Core Formation realm."
Give it the exact name of someone who is online (capitalization does not matter) or their account id. You learn their chosen Dao element and their realm, and nothing else: no Qi, stage, sect, location or gear, and they are not told you asked.
If anything goes wrong, you get one and the same answer: The heavens reveal nothing about that name. That covers a name that does not exist, a player who is offline, and someone who has not chosen a Dao element yet. The wording is identical on purpose, so nobody can use the oracle to check whether an account exists or is online. This refusal never costs Spirit Stones. The longer 15 minute cooldown also slows anyone trying names one after another.
Costs, cooldowns and limits
- Realm. You must be at least Qi Condensation (
Divination-Min-Realm1; Body Refinement is 0). Below it you are told your cultivation has not reached the realm the heavens will speak to. - Cost. Spirit Stones come out of your hotbar and pack together, and only once the reading exists. A refusal of any kind, whether the oracle is off, you are too low, the heavens are mid-event or the rival is not found, costs you nothing. If you cannot afford a real reading you are told the price.
- Cooldown. It starts the moment the checks pass, before the answer or the charge. So a reading you cannot afford, or one the heavens could not give, still uses up the cooldown. Plan accordingly.
tribulationandheavensshare one clock;rivalhas its own. Cooldowns are kept in memory only and a relog clears them. - Souls. A fleeing soul under Nascent Soul Escape cannot divine.
Commands
| Command | Does | Permission |
|---|---|---|
/divine | Prints a one-line description | cultivation |
/divine tribulation | The flavor, band and Qi Deviation risk of your own next tribulation | cultivation |
/divine heavens | When the next celestial event arrives and, perhaps, its boss | cultivation |
/divine rival {name} | An online player's realm and Dao element | cultivation |
cultivation is granted to every player by default; see Permissions. There is no menu page or in-game Codex article for Divination, only these commands.
For server owners
Everything is in mods/Siren_Cultivation/Cultivation/DivinationConfig.json. It is not in the in-game /cultivation admin editor, so edit the file. The same keys are listed in the Divination Config section of the Cultivation config page, along with the other cultivation files.
| Key | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Divination-Enabled | true | Master switch. Off, and every /divine command answers that the heavens are silent. |
Divination-Min-Realm | 1 | Lowest realm, as a number from Body Refinement (0), that may divine. Applies to all three readings. |
Divination-Cost-Tribulation | 5 | Spirit Stones for a tribulation reading. |
Divination-Cost-Heavens | 10 | Spirit Stones for a heavens reading. |
Divination-Cost-Rival | 15 | Spirit Stones for a rival reading. |
Divination-Cooldown-Seconds | 300 | One clock shared by the tribulation and heavens readings. |
Divination-Rival-Cooldown-Seconds | 900 | A separate, longer clock for rival readings. |
Divination-Heavens-Reveals-Boss | true | Whether a heavens reading may add the "may descend" clause for the event's boss. |
The heavens reading follows your Celestial Events settings: turn Celestial-Enabled off and it has nothing to report.
